Patient Care Philosophy
“It is my goal to treat every patient with the same respect, patience and attention to detail that I would offer to members of my own family. I believe that good care is a two way street and that patients should leave a visit with me feeling confident that all of their questions have been answered. I want my patients to understand and feel comfortable with the treatment plan.”
Dr. Kristen Epting is a highly trained optometrist, specializing in Cornea and External Disease and Specialty Contact Lenses. She is a key member of our cornea care team, working closely with the surgeons at Ophthalmic Partners to meet the complex needs of our patients. Dr. Epting graduated from Susquehanna University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Health Care Studies before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. After obtaining her degree, she spent two years in clinical internships through The Eye Institute, gaining additional experience in management of ocular diseases, pediatrics and vision therapy.
Following her internships, Dr. Epting completed her residency at The Eye Institute, with clinical honors in Cornea and External Disease and Specialty Contact Lenses. As part of her residency training, Dr. Epting helped provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract, corneal transplant and refractive patients. She also gained experience in treating dry eye patients using advanced modalities such as Lipiflow. Her expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses, including soft, gas-permeable, scleral and others, is such that she organized and taught advanced workshops for contact lens students.
At the present time, Dr. Epting works primarily with Ophthalmic Partners’ cornea surgeon, Dr. Brandon Ayres. Together, Dr. Ayres and Dr. Epting seek to provide our patients with the most individualized and responsive cornea care possible. This team approach allows patients more timely access to the specialized services that they offer, including clinical management by Dr. Epting and surgical treatment by Dr. Ayres.
